A sudden poll question entered my head as I was doing laundry the other day. What is better, liquid or powder detergent? As I think about it now, there doesn't seem to be a clear victor. Lets just do a quick contest to see which should rightfully be called the coolest.
Part 1: Physical Exertion
Powder - This type does not require all the too much. The hardest part is opening the box and scooping out the powder.
Liquid - This type requires way more than powder. Especially if you have one of the huge, industrial-sized detergent containers. You need to lift the bloody thing and pour just the right amount in.
Victor = POWDER
Part 2: Ease of Use
Powder - While both are easy, this type seems a bit more difficult to use. You need to figure out how much you get with each scoop, and if you screw up you need to tap it until it's just right.
Liquid - This type is easy to use, if you can get past the physical exertion (see above). Just pour in the measured amount and it's all done. If you add too much, just dump it away. Piece of cake.
Victor = LIQUID
Part 3: Ease of Transport
Powder - This type often comes in a box of varying size. Sometimes it has a handle, sometimes it does not. Either way, it's a cinch to carry.
Liquid - This type comes in a bottle that almost always comes with a handle. Not a problem.
Victor = TIE
Part 4: Mess
Powder - Powder, being a powder, is naturally messy. Especially if you screw up and need to change how much you have in the measuring cup.
Liquid - Liquid, being a liquid, is very clean and very difficult to make a mess with. Unless you spill it, there should be no need to clean up.
Victor = LIQUID
Part 5: Cost
Powder - This type, for some abscure reason, seems to generally be cheaper than its counterpart, liquid.
Liquid - Probably due to the plastic used to make the bottle, this type is more expensive than powder.
Victor = POWDER
Alright, that's all the competition for now! Let us tally up the scores: What a surprise. Well, there you have it, folks. There is no clear victor. To break the tie, my personal preference will gain a point. Let me just redo this real quick...
Powder = 2
Liquid = 2
Victor = TIE
Victor = Liquid
There we go, much better. Liquid is way cooler than powder, and a biased competition has proven it. Thank you and good night!
