  • A Parody of Angst

Whenever I am browsing Xanga, I am often bombarded with a great number of angsty Emo posts. You know the kind. The ones that basically say, "life sucks and I want you all to think the same way." The question I ask is, "does anybody even pay attention to these posts?" I mean really? Most people already know that life sucks. That's just part of growing up. It takes a real man/woman to look at the suck-ness of life and make it bearable. Look, here is my own version of one of those silly "angst" posts.

    god, i hate my parents.

they're always getting on my case.

all i did was take bread from the middle of the loaf and they b**** and moan about it. i hate it.

    i hate them all.

i am not worth anything to them.

all they see is some loser with no future.

let me just go and listen to some hard rock music and complain about politics without really knowing why. maybe that will make me feel better.

Yup, see it all the time. It's rather boring isn't it. Also, writing poetry about your angst isn't much better. Well, I take that back. The effort is what makes it worthwhile. I may not like it personally, but most so-called "good" poetry has been written by depressed individuals. So, if you are going to pour your angst over others, please do so in a poem. I probably won't like it, but others might.

And now for something completely different!
I have had this song stuck in my head for the past week!

  • A Eulogy for a Great Inventor

The nation mourns today after the passing of the great inventor Momofuku Ando. While the name may not be familiar, his contribution to the world is instantly recognizable. The lovable Cup Noodle. Yes, within the perfectly sized polystyrene cup lies a meal fit for nobles and peasants alike. The Cup Noodle offers a tasty meal at an affordable price. With easy preparation and almost no clean up, it is a perfect companion for the bachelor, college-student, unemployee, and many others. The loss is tragic, but the legacy lives on. RAmen, brother Ando. RAmen.

  • Xanga Photo Manager

I don't really have anything to post about, so I thought I'd try using Xanga's photo-managing doo-hicky. Well, it's fully functional, I guess. I may stick with Image Shack for my picture uploading needs, but I may use Xanga's for pictures I edit myself. Keep an eye out at the bottom of the screen later today.

  • Afro Pizza Cats pt.2

Well, I saw the first episode of Afro Samurai last night. I'm not going to lolly-gag, so let me just say it. I was disappointed. It seems to focus just on the action. Some anime can pull this off, but this one just seemed silly. There were about three fights in the first episode, and each of them seemed arbitrary, and did not really do much for the story. The weapons also seemed awkwardly out of place. The story designer must have been thinking, "okay, for this next guy's weapon, lets give him... a rocket launcher!" The graphics themselves were sub-par. I think they were trying to be very "artsy," if you will, but I just thought it was dull. Most all of the characters and backgrounds were shades of gray, and the only other color was blood red. Obviously, it was for the blood, and let me say that there was a lot of it. The story itself seems a little cliché. I was reminded of Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride, because the story is essentially, "my name is Afro Samurai. You killed my father. Prepare to die." The voice-acting was great, though the lip-synching looked a little off. Not too bad though. My biggest problem arises with Samuel L Jackson's voice. He simply did not have enough lines! Throughout the episode, he had maybe five or six lines. None of them were very Samuel L Jackson-esque, either. There was, however, one redeeming feature. Afro Samurai used a silly straw. Can't say that about every samurai. Kudos. Anway, I can see some people getting into Afro Samurai, but I am definitely not one of them. Sorry Mr. Jackson. You're great and all, but not even your voice-acting can save this one.

  • Final Episode

I watched the last episode of Yoake mae Yori Ruriiro na Crescent Love the other day. Sure, it was nice, but all I could really say was, and here I am quoting myself precisely, "double-yoo... tee... eff..." Seriously, I had to use that very acronym. There was simply no emoticon for what I was feeling. It was like that one TV show where the husband died, but then you realize at the end of the episode that it was a dream (was it Dallas, maybe? Hmm...). I don't wish to spoil it for anyone, but if you watch it, you should keep in mind that it does not have a cool, Scarface-like ending. The real ending was nice though. A real storybook ending. A real cliché, it was. It did give you something of a feeling of closure. You thought, "okay, I saw it coming from a mile away, but it was nice." Now, I'm rambling. So I suppose I shall leave you with these parting words... "time for breakfast."

  • GameFAQs Poll

(Poll statistics taken as of 0717 EST)

Well, I can't say that I'm surprised. Twilight Princess was a great game and I can definitely see why it brought home the honors. I am just very happy Magical Melody scraped in second place. It lets me know that my vote counts.

  • Fanatics vs. Haruhi

Ah, it’s nice thinking about religion, isn’t it? Well, from
an outsider standpoint, anyway. I definitely don’t want to be one of those
fanatical zealots. I can only imagine the results when any one of them watches
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. For those of you who don’t know, MoHS
presents something of an alternate god theory. This may not sit well among the
whack-jobs. Though, it can’t be that bad yet. I mean… Haruhi has already been
    used to aid in protests:

No, this image was not photo-shopped. At least, not to my
    knowledge. Here: t3h reference

Well, food for thought. Eat it up. I hope the radicals
aren’t serving humble pie. I may have to turn it down.

In other news: SNAKES ON A MOTHERF~CKIN’ PLANE!

  • What did I do yesterday to celebrate the new year? Nothing special. Mostly I reaffirmed my status as a hopeless geek. I watched some Star Wars, Evangelion, Haruhi Suzumiya, and Code Geass. I also beat Sonic 2, played some Magical Melody, read some manga, and listened to some Daft Punk. In all, it was a relaxing day. During the last two hours of the new year, I was watching the well-timed History of Sex on the History Channel. I hope that doesn't come back to haunt me.
