  • The Virginia Monologues

"Do-do do do do I wear my suuuuuunglasses at night. So I can, so I can - okay, this
guy is driving too slow. Thirty-five? Yup, way too slow. It's time for Mr.
Passy to make an appearance. Hit the blinker, and away I go-oh crap! That was a cop! Why was he
driving so slowly? What is the speed limit on this road anyway? Maybe I should
slow down a little. I need to start paying attention to those speed limits.
Should I match his speed? Too late, I already passed him. What's he doing now?
Dang it, he's getting behind me. I hope he's not going to pull me over. What's
my speed? Forty-five? Crap, I hope the speed limit isn't thirty-five, or I am
in for some deep doo-doo. Strange, he hasn't hit is lights yet. Is he going to
pull me over? Well, I know the limit isn't under thirty-five, and that's what
I'm doing, so why is he still following me? Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster,
I see a speed limit sign. Forty-five? Ah dammit! What the heck is this cop
doing? Oh, he's turning left here. Geez, getting me all worked up for nothing.
Are there anymore squad cars? No? Okay, let me get back to a more reasonable
speed, like sixty-five. What song's on now? I've
been waitinnnnnnnng... for a girl like you!

  • Killin' in the Name of... Tech Support?

I'm very rarely angry. That's just mypersonality. Sure, I get annoyed from time to time, but I can usually shruganything off with a strong "meh". Yesterday, however, was the firsttime in a long while that I was honestly and truly angry. Let me tell you whathappened. I was taking a test online and I was about to submit it when myinternet connection went out. Really, my entire cable connection went out. Icouldn't even watch TV. It took me about forty-five minutes to finish the test, only to realize that the answers could not be submitted and I would have toretake it. I was annoyed. I decided to call my cable provider (which I shallnot name, but I will say it rhymes with "bombast"). I had a verysimple inquiry. I wanted to know if there were any scheduled outages and howlong I might need to wait. I got directed to someone in what must have been athird-world country with a name that I could not pronounce for the life of me.I explained the situation to her and presented my inquiry, so she decided to aska series of questions that would get the heat off of Bombast Cable. "Isyour router blocking any connections?" "Is the modem plugged inproperly?" ad nauseam. I tried to tell her that it wasn't my problem, considering nothing cable-related was functioning in my house. She did not getthe hint, so I hung up in disgust. It was at this point that I finally tippedinto anger. Finally, I tried to call my professor to tell him what happened.Lucky for him, he wasn't in his office to bear the grunt of my misfortune. AllI got was a very sincere, recorded message telling me to try e-mailing him. Itwas at this point that I realized my body does not know how to handle rage. Iwas pacing around, shaking, and I rustled my hair a lot. Fortunately I came outof my fit without breaking anything. If you read this far, thanks for readingmy rant, and I apologize for not being as funny as I could have been.

  • The Ultimate Test

At the moment, my typingspeed bounces between 75 and 80 words per minute. I'm not trying to brag(much), I'm just saying that typing tests are getting just a little too easy. Ithink it's about time they invented an advanced typing test. It would be a lotmore than simply typing everyday words. It would have all sorts of commas, numbers, hyphens, accented characters, and big words. It would probably look somethinglike this...

Xavier's gargantuan café encapsulated Constantinople'sexquisite population. Familiar Antoinette's naïveté showed when exclaimingwill-o'-the-wisp day-dreams regarding Xavier's Constantinople café. Antoinette'sstep-brother, Rumpelstiltskin, regularly produced clearly-forged, erogenousLichtenstein portraits of dreadful quality. Rumpelstiltskin's dispensarydecommissioned over-the-counter sales of Rittelin, Accutane, chlorhexidinegluconate, and adapalene solution, essentially alienating second-cousin-twice-removedAnnabelle-Lee's multiple personalities, gingivitis, and ferocious sebaceousapparatus inflammation from normalized society. Additionally,antidisestablishmentarianism...

It would probably be something like that, only a lotworse and nonsensical.

  • Not a Belief, Just a Thought

Let's talk for a moment about crucifixion. I
think it's about time that that style of execution made a comeback. I'm tired
of these wussy executions like lethal injection and burying alive (you don't
hear much about that one). I want something with pizazz, and keeps criminals
on their toes. It's been done for hundreds of years, so it's not unusual, and
it can be finished rather quickly, so it's not cruel. You put the criminal up
there, stab him/her in the heart with a long, cool-looking spear, and be done
with it. Maybe it could be televised and really get the point across (get it?).
The biggest problem I can see is that America is just too fat. I'm not sure if
simple wooden crosses would be enough to support some of the hefty crime bosses
lined up for execution. They would need to use some polycarbonate resin to hold
them up. I guess it's also rather messy. Nobody wants to clean up the bottom of
a crucifix, besides interns. I'm sure that this idea would ruffle the feathers
of Christians too. They might think that it waters down the death of Jesus.
After people keep seeing all these crucifixions, they'll start thinking
"meh, Jesus wasn't that special." Well, we'll see how things proceed.
Maybe if we can get another Texan in the White House... oh gods! Impure
    thoughts!

  • At the moment my Xanga skin isn't working, so I'll be using a so-called "theme" for a little while. I'm hoping to find out what's wrong and get my skin back up as soon as I can, unless you all tell me otherwise.

  • Anime Season Wrap-up

Alright, the anime season is coming to a close, so let me
give you my thoughts on some of the series I have been following, as well as a
preview of some of the others I hope to latch onto. I'll try to list them in the order of my favorites. Let us start with...

Otani's jealousy just rose to... over nine-thousand!?

Lovely Complex (2 episodes remaining) - I love this series.
It has definitely become one of my favorites. There are still a few episodes
left for me to see, but the ending looks to be a good one. The show had a
perfect mix (for me) of romance, comedy, and drama.

It is important not to lose one's head in love

School Days (finished airing) - This is one of
the better series this season. It began as a generic love-triangle, and then it
gradually turned into a filthy smut-fest. It finally wrapped up with its
brutally violent ending. I highly recommend it to those who are not faint of
    heart.

Seto no Hanayome (1 episode remaining) - This is a pretty
funny anime that I am enjoying immensely. I'm rather sad that it is coming to a
close, but its time has come. I've had my laughs, and I'm ready to see what the
male protagonist's final choice will be.

    All units, prepare for battle

Lucky Star (finished airing) - This series was
all hype. It was okay and had its funny moments, but it was rather boring most
of the time. All it really did was ride the wake of Haruhi Suzumiya.

    The crowd goes wild.

Umisho (2 episodes remaining) - This series is
okay. It's not going to win any awards here, but it wasn't terrible. It was a
fun anime that filled in the gaps between some of the more pressing shows. It's
almost over, and I don't really have much to say about it. I just wish this one
had more of a story to it.

Nagasarate Airantou (1 episode remaining) - The world needs
more harem-anime. Thankfully, this series is here to fill in this required
block. It's not the best, but it gets the dirty job done. Honestly, I thought
this anime dragged on longer than it needed to. It was fun, but I'm glad it's
    almost over.

Another example of the "he should have died" ending

Code-E (finished airing) - This was a poor excuse of an
anime. It had a great concept, a girl who emitted EMPs when experienced a hefty
emotional shift, but dropped the ball when it rushed the ending, which was
complete crap. It tied up none of the endings. It left it open for a second
season, but it should not have been necessary for such a mediocre series.

Code Geass (finished airing) - I waited two months to see
the ending and I got that crap? I have nothing more to say about this series.

The series that I am looking forward to in the coming season...

    Clannad

    Myself; Yourself

    Da Capo II

ef - a tale of memories
