I'm a Leo, Nyaa~
I decided to do a little research on my zodiacal sign, Leo. I never really paid this silliness much credence, so I thought it would be fun to investigate this sort of thing from my own outsider perspective. I found a somewhat overarching description of Leo from this site, so let me begin breaking it down. The parts from the external source are italicized.
Leos are mostly social, self-confident and playful individuals.
- Well, I don't really know how to read this one. I'm actually rather anti-social, but I can act social very well when forced to. I'm self-confident in the sense that my ego is large enough to take up an extra seat on an airplane. Playful?... Well, I do enjoy all sorts of humor.
They tend to be more simpleminded and lighthearted, more interested in having a good time than hard work or precision. This often makes them less than sophisticated, although Neptune may alleviate this.
- Simpleminded and lighthearted only applies to me when I'm trying to crack a joke. Even then, I try to get my facts straight and my sources in line (unless I'm just making crap up). Oh, and I am definitely not afraid of hard work or precision. I gotta find this Neptune person and see what that's all about. As a great philosopher once said, "Poseidon, look at me now."
They tend to be rather enthusiastic, fun and usually have a good sense of humor.
- I'm biased. I think I'm fun and have a good sense of humor, but I'll leave that for others to determine... Not that I would care what you schmucks think.
Leos may be a bit unrefined or lack some manners, and often have more of a folksy character, which gives them much charm. They usually say what's on their hearts, and do not believe in holding back.
- Oh good, something that applies to me. While I've never been referred to as "folksy," I have been called unsubtle and an ass before. I'm sorry, but if you're saying something stupid, I'll stop you and explain why I think so.
The ego is strong in this sign, and although there are signs much more sensitive than Leo, it may well respond aggressively when it does feel its ego has been bruised. These natives are naturally self-centered, having a strong need to be in the center of attention, although they can be rather big-hearted when in a good mood. They need to feel loved, or they can become irritated and quite frustrated.
- I believe I have already mentioned how great I am, as if there was any doubt.
Leos tend to be dominant in most social settings. They tend to be boisterous, especially when both the sun and Mercury are in this sign, and often draw much attention to themselves, good or bad.
- Plain and simply, I try to avoid drawing attention to myself unless someone's opinion is so radically wrong (read: different from mine) that I just have to speak out.
There is often some form of arrogance in the Leo personality, which can sometimes annoy others and in a problematic chart, perhaps contribute to a downfall. There's much pride in this sign as well.
- The nice thing about being arrogant is that you don't care how annoyed people are.
They usually have a childish twist to them, and quite the creative touch. They are the natural showmen of the zodiac, always craving attention and wanting to play.
- I don't really know about the craving attention part. I mean, just look at this blog. I've had it since 2004, and my single digit readership hasn't made me lose any sleep.
This sign is usually very good with kids and young people, as it is itself a child at heart. Natural Leo people often work with kids.
- I HATE children. Ugh, I can't stand being around them. I don't think I would make a good father.
This sign does not like hard, or complex work. It wants to enjoy life, and will always seek to bring something fun into its life.
- While I do like to enjoy life, more often than not, it is the challenge that I enjoy. Avoiding hard or complex work is not something I do. Honestly, it's the easy and mind-numbing work that I try to avoid like the plague.
It can grow quite dissatisfied with difficult life circumstances, especially when its romantic life is lacklustre, and in its frustration may seek satisfaction in inappropriate venues.
- I don't entirely understand this one. With an ego as big as mine, why would I need a romantic life? And what exactly are these "inappropriate venues"? Anybody who knows me, knows that I lead one of the most boring lives ever.
Desires are strong in Leo, as it is quite a passionate sign. It also tends to be more romantic in its nature. These natives are usually rather colorful, sometimes even dramatic. Leo tends to be confident in itself and in its abilities.
- Desires being strong in someone are not a sign of being Leo, it's a sign of being human. This is kinda why capitalism works as well as it does. Whether I'm romantic or not remains to be seen, but I don't think I am. Colorful and dramatic may be apt, but that's mostly me just acting that way. The last sentence is redundant. So, out of this whole description I've been assigned from birth, the only thing it has right is the bit about my obscene narcissism. Take THAT universe! Ain't got nothin' on me! Hnn! (pelvic thrust)
